Kids' Activities
Article by Captured in Clay Arts & Crafts With Kids Made Easy On those "I'm Bored" days, here's an idea or two that I used to keep my kids busy and save my sanity at the same time:
- Contact a local newspaper and ask them if they have "end rolls". (This is the end part of the paper roll they can not use because it is too close to the end and are usually FREE if you go and pick them up.) Roll a long piece on the floor, provide some markers and crayons and let them start creating. Or, make a road with popular places in your neighborhood (local grocery store, gas station, church, school, favorite restaurant, etc.), give them some toy cars and let them play. Let your kids lie down, trace their bodies and then let them color them in.
- Purchase a plastic 3 or 5 drawer rolling cart. Gather common craft supplies (glue sticks, pipe cleaners, felt, Elmer's Glue, tape, beads, yarn, buttons, google eyes, pom-poms, watercolor paint, markers, rickrack, ribbon, etc.) and organize in the cart (label drawer contents). I also suggest purchasing prepackaged craft "kits" from craft stores.
Now you're ready with activities that will keep their hands (and minds) challenged and busy whenever you need them to be.
